Copyright & Takedown Policy

How to report infringement and what happens next.

🦥

The short version: If someone’s published your work here without permission, email editor@storysloth.com with the details below. We typically remove infringing content within 2–5 working days. Repeat offenders lose their accounts.

Legal Framework

This policy complies with the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), the UK Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, and the EU Directive on Copyright in the Digital Single Market where applicable.

Reporting Infringement

Send your takedown notice to editor@storysloth.com.

Your Notice Must Include

  1. Your full legal name and contact details.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work, with a link to the original if possible.
  3. The URL(s) on StorySloth you believe infringe your copyright.
  4. A good faith statement that the use is not authorised.
  5. A statement under penalty of perjury (DMCA) that your notice is accurate and you’re authorised to act on the owner’s behalf.
  6. Your physical or electronic signature.

What Happens Next

We review the notice for completeness. If valid, we remove the content (typically 2–5 working days) and notify the author, including their right to file a counter-notice.

Counter-Notices

If your content was removed in error, you can submit a counter-notice to editor@storysloth.com with your contact details, identification of the removed content, a good faith statement that it was removed by mistake, consent to Scottish jurisdiction, and your signature.

We forward counter-notices to the original complainant. If no court action is filed within 10–14 business days, we may restore the content.

Repeat Infringers

Authors who receive multiple valid takedown notices may have their accounts suspended or permanently terminated.

Misuse

Filing a false takedown notice may result in liability for damages under applicable law. We reserve the right to disregard notices we determine to be fraudulent.
